THE TRIP TO ITALY starts Friday, September 19

Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon are back in the hilarious sequel to The TripThe Trip to Italy is more restaurants, more reviews, and more excuses to eat (see below!)

Michael Winterbottom’s largely improvised 2010 film, The Trip, took comedians Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon—or semi-fictionalized versions thereof—on a restaurant tour around northern England. In this witty and incisive follow-up, Winterbottom reunites the pair for a new culinary road trip, retracing the steps of the Romantic poets’ grand tour of Italy and indulging in some sparkling banter and impersonation-offs. Winterbottom trains his camera to capture the idyllic Italian landscape and the gastronomic treasures being prepared and consumed while keeping the film centered on the crackling chemistry between the two leads.

And what is a movie about dining in Italy without Italian food? A missed opportunity, we’d say! So on Friday, Sept. 19 and Saturday, Sept. 20, we’ll have Tomato, Olive and Mozzarella pie, from Detroit’s own Sister Pie, available for $5 per good-sized slice. Layers of tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, olives, oregano, and green peppers in an all-butter crust, served with a complimentary glass of red or white wine. Mangia!
