Spirit Lake is unusually deep. No one has ever managed to find the bottom, though many have tried. After an ecologist who was campaigning to preserve the lake goes mysteriously missing during a dive, her three daughters return home to put their mother’s affairs in order. June (Lindsay Burdge), a mentally unstable documentary filmmaker, records the experience with her two half-sisters Annie (Jennifer Lafleur) and Isa (Aleksa Palladino). All three feel the presence of their mother, but June finds herself drawn deeper into the mystery of the disappearance. They settle into the house and jokingly summon the ghost of a local legend. Several strange occurrences follow and as the questions mount, the family begins to unravel.
