Michael Winterbottom’s The Face of An Angel explores the ideas of truth, objectivity, and the way narratives are constructed through a fictionalized account of the Meredith Kircher/Amanda Knox case. A journalist (Kate Beckinsale) and a documentary filmmaker (Daniel Brühl) are pursuing the ever-murkier story of a murder suspect (Cara Delavingne) in Italy. The journalist becomes tormented by the circumstances of the case, questioning his own values and motives, and experiencing dark, ghostly visions. Filmed with hand-held cameras in Siena, Italy, The Face of an Angel features striking visuals from cinematographer Hubert Taczanowski.
